Vacation Buggy’s Recommendations for Things to Do in Costa Rica

  • A Jungle & Waterfall Excursion

If you’re going to Costa Rica to experience the “true jungle” you want to take a tour that gives you the opportunity to explore the significant wildlife, nature and enjoy the overall sense of tranquility.

  • La Paz Jungle & Waterfall Excursion

If you came here to experience the “True Jungle”, this is it – and our most popular excursion.  This exciting and Private adventure provides an opportunity to enjoy the diverse beauty of the Country as we travel deep into the Costa Rican rainforest on this thrilling four-wheel-drive excursion for a private couple getaway or with your entire group or family.   With significant wildlife, nature and an overall sense of tranquility, you will experience the jungle at its best.  We will travel up the mountain through some of the most beautiful areas of the country, traveling through the palm plantation, crossing streams, past local towns and journey to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Central America.   Upon our arrival, we will walk across a heart-pounding and thrilling suspension bridge approximately 400 feet to one of the the most incredible waterfalls in the area. After a short hike, we then end up at a very refreshing swimming hole with it’s own waterfall.  Not wanting the day to end, we will hike down below the gorge to one of the most incredible views where 6 waterfalls converge (We call it the Valley of the Waterfalls) and you can again swim, stand under the falls (which feels like a natural massage) or just take numerous pictures – an amazing site… Don’t forget your bathing suit! We also stop for an incredible lunch on our way back…..

  • Tortuguero

Tortuguero is a true paradise. There are no cars on the streets and you’ll find nature bursting into the village with every step you take. You can search for monkeys (spider, howler and white-faced capuchin), caiman, sloths and basilisk lizards. You can also visit the Sea Turtle Conservancy, a National Geographic grantee and non-profit organization. Paddle deep into the jungle or soak up the sun on a Caribbean beach where thousands of sea turtles are welcomed each year.

  • Arenal Volcano

Arenal is one of Costa Rica’s most notable features and best-known volcanoes. With its perfect symmetrical shape, the Arenal Volcano makes it a photographer’s (or Instagrammer’s) dream. Rising above the rainforest that surrounds its base, the immediate area hosts many activities including whitewater rafting, hiking, canopy tours and waterfall rappelling.

  • Nosara Beach

While there are so many Costa Rica beaches to choose from, and you truly can’t go wrong, Nosara Beach is one of our personal favorites and we bet will become one of yours too. Nosara Beach boasts seven kilometers of fine white sand and has a trendy, New Age vibe with many yoga and juice bar options for you. It’s much like Mexico’s Tulum, minus all the crowds. Nosara Beach also features a few large tide pools that are perfect for snorkeling and exploring marine life. Surfers gravitate to Playa Guiones and has consistent surf throughout the year.

  • Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

Be prepared to be astounded with the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve’s beauty and amazing biodiversity. It boasts rare forests that occur within tropical or subtropical mountainous environments where the atmospheric conditions allow for a consistent cover of clouds. You will find over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, over 2,500 varieties of plants and tens of thousands of insect species. Think mist, friendly locals, monkeys, coffee plantations and cloud forests—it’s straight up magical.
